Greece in winter pales by comparison to its sparkling summery self - at least in the minds of tourists. But the Greeks themselves and a few savvy travelers know that Greece in winter can be a mesmerizing place - and often a very sunny one. The Greek island of Rhodes, sacred to the sun god Helios in ancient times, offers many hotels which are open for guests all year round. They tend to be indulgent choices rather than bargain types - but you may not mind that. Here is a list of a few of them for your wintertime getaway in Greece.
1. La Marquise, Rhodes City area
Opened in the spring of 2010, this large new hotel is on the outskirts of Rhodes city near Kalithea. The complex offers 386 rooms, including some suites with their own private pools and 10 rooms with full access for disabilities. The resort complex is also wheelchair-friendly. If a winter wedding is in the cards for your trip to Greece, the hotel offers full wedding planning services and also has a small chapel on the premises.

3. Grande Albergo delle Rose
A "Grand Hotel" in the traditional sense of the word, this luxury option offers 33 suites named for different figures from ancient Greek history and mythology - each with its own butler - yes, that kind of luxury. The fortress-like building is also the site of the sparkling Casino Rodos. All in all, it's a great spot to base a trip to another mood of Greece, one which you won't find in most of the Greek islands - sophisticated, somewhat "Old World", and indulgent. Prices start from 420 euros per suite per night.
4. Melenos Lindos
Located in the charming architecturally-protected town of Lindos, this luxury boutique hotel is offering http://www.melenoslindos.com/english/news.asp"> a short winter season starting in November 2011 through February 1st, 2012. While it may not be as indulgent as the full hotel experience in summer, it promises to make it up in intimacy at this scenic spot near the historic acropolis of Lindos. It's also an excellent value compared to many other luxury hotels on Rhodes.
