Maps of Greece and the Greek Islands

Studying your Greek family history and genealogy? Old maps of Greece often contain former place names which may figure in your family history and help you find out where your ancestors came from.

These maps are from an old German atlas. This particular map is titled "Des Osmanischen Reichs europaischer theil Greichenland & die Junischen Inseln, 1845". The subsequent images show smaller portions of this map of Greece.

Although this map was produced under the Ottoman occupation, many of the Greek place names used here reference the old Italian names used during the Venetian period in Greece, even though that period ended over two hundred years before this map was made.
