Georgia and Poupi at a Taverna

Like the beach taverna in "Mamma Mia the Movie!", this one also looks like a temporary construction just built for the movie. But don't let that deter you. There are plenty of great beach tavernas to be found. Standouts include the beach taverna at Sweetwater Beach on Crete, the taverna overlooking Marmara Beach, also on Crete, and the on-the-sand taverna at Super Paradise Beach on the Greek island of Mykonos. The Greek island of Milos also has a couple of excellent ones, the Son of the Beach Taverna (which looks very similar to this one) at Firopotamos Beach and one at the "Banana Beach" (one of several similarly-named beaches in Greece) where they even offer massages. And yes, they're filled with fun, music, often simple but excellent food, and plenty of flirtation.
