Unfortunately, no. The physical locations for Clash of the Titans were primarily shot at Teide National Park on the Spanish island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands off of the African coast. Other Clash of the Titans sequences were shot in Wales. Some scenes are shot in Wales, most notably at Dinowig or Dinorwig Quarry. Some scenes or shots were also filmed at Newborough in Anglesey, all very far from Greece itself. Aerial shots of the Danakil Depression in Ethiopia and backgrounds for the scenes with giant scorpions were shot in Ethiopia.
With many shots created partially or wholly in the computer, it's hard to say where some of the filming locations really are.
Greek mythology buffs may well be asking, "Why wasn't Clash of the Titans shot in Greece?" Film producers insist that shooting in Spain is cheaper and that Spain's film industry offers a more experienced crew base and infrastructure for epic films, but that argument doesn't hold up quite as well for Wales. The director, Louis Letterier, said in an interview with Ahmad Childress that "We actually wanted to shoot it in Europe so we based ourselves out of London and obviously Greece now is full of hotels. There’s not a lot of beaches that would look like what they were then." Oh really? Considering that Greece has hundreds of uninhabited islands and extensive stretches of undeveloped coastline, just how hard did the location scouts work on this?
But in the end, like big stars everywhere, Greece had a "stand-in" - in this case, the islands off of the coast of Spain and the United Kingdom.
Ironically, Andromedia's parents, the King and Queen of Argos were originally the King and Queen of Ethiopia in the actual myth. Though displaced, their original mythic country still managed to make an appearance in the film, which is more than can be said for Greece itself.
The Clash of the Titans release date has been changed from March 26th to April 2nd, 2010. It has been delayed to allow time to create a last-minute 3-D version of the film, so an additional delay may be possible. Fortunately, Greece itself is always in 3-D.
