Tour Operator: Oceania Cruises
Cruises in Greece

By deTraci Regula, About.com

Company: Oceania Cruises.

Oceania Cruises is a partial reincarnation of Renaissance Cruises, once a mainstay of Greek island cruising before 2001, when the company went bankrupt after 9/11.

At that time, Renaissance was despised by struggling travel agents as the company shifted to entirely on-line booking, eliminating commissions.

The new Oceania Cruises is much more travel-agent friendly to the point that you cannot book with them directly through their website. Instead, they will refer you to travel agents in your area.

Ship Data
The Oceania website offers a virtual tour of one of the ships though it did not load at my visit; scroll down on this page for the basic statistics on each vessel.

Their three ships, the Nautica, the Insignia, and the Regatta, are all mid-size, holding a maximum of 684 passengers on each, making the potential port tour crush a little lighter.

Oceania is offering many cruises that start or end in Athens; some other cruises also offer a Greek port or two.
