Natural History Museum of Crete

By , About.com Guide

Explore the Fauna and Flora of Crete:
A visit here can help make sense of the fascinating geology and rich variety of local plants and animals, many found nowhere else on earth.
Educational Programs are Fun for Kids:
The Stavros Niarchos special exhibition hall is designed to involve children in the exhibits. If your younger children are glazing over at the mention of another museum, this one might be just the thing to perk them back up. The Discovery Center offers a variety of interactive, child-friendly exhibits, including a large model of ancient ship.
Planetarium to Open in Late 2009:
The Museum continues to expand its exhibits. At present, a Planetarium is under construction and should be open by the end of 2009.
Visiting the Natural History Museum of Crete:
With one of the richest ecosystems in the world, Crete has long deserved a larger natural history museum. When it is completed in late 2007 or early 2008, Crete will finally have a place where interested visitors can get a better grasp on the unique natural world of Crete.
