Traveling with a Computer
Don't accessorize at the store

By deTraci Regula, About.com

Traveling with lots of technology? I know I do - and nothing is worse than trying to quickly find that cable or charger in a suitcase jammed with identical small black bags, or clear ones filled to bursting with cables and devices.

Instead of buying accessory bags at the computer superstore, where they usually come in one of twelve shades of black, go to a cheap clothing store and pick up small purses or pouches in different bright colors. That way, you can keep your cell phone charger in a bright white bag, your computer peripherals in a blue bag, and so on.

For extra ease in finding them fast, choose fabrics that have different textures. This also helps if you are digging in the bottom of a backpack or suitcase while balancing your laptop on your knees. Black bags tend to disappear in dim lighting, or under the seat of your rental car. I've had unnecessary panics thinking I left that crucial bag of cables at my last stop, when they have just blended in with several similar bags at the bottom of my suitcase.

One other plus of having non-standard bags - it isn't as obvious that you're carrying a camera or laptop with you.
