The cave high above Avdou still hosts locals who go to commune with nature in the cave. Ikarus Commune founder Tasos points out that it wasn't until Ikarus and Daedalus had traveled far beyond Crete that Ikarus flew too near the sun; here, he says, their flight was in perfect balance.
