Skopelos is in the Aegean Sea off the coast of mainland Greece. It has no airport so visitors need to fly to Skiathos, then take an hour-long ferry to Skopelos. Skopelos is sometimes spelled "Scopelos".
Why You Should Go to Skopelos:
Skopelos is a relatively unspoiled island catering to British and Greek tourists. It's considered an "expensive" island by Greek standards, definitely not catering to the backpacker crowd. It's experiencing a bit of a surge in tourists as it was the location for much of the mythical island of Kalokairi in "Mamma Mia the Movie!" which came out in July, 2008.

Events in Skopelos
The patron saint of Skopelos, Agios Reginos, has a feast day on February 25th. There is also a photographic exhibit in July.

Beaches on Skopelos
Skopelos has many fine beaches, some of which are clothing optional; Cap'n Barefoot's Skopelos page examines them in detail. Kastani Beach appeared in "Mamma Mia"; it was a more or less clothed beach in the movie but movie-loving visitors should be aware it often goes a bit farther than that.
How to Get to Skopelos
The quickest way to Skopelos is by flying to Skiathos and then taking a short ferry ride to Skopelos itself. There are other ferry options available.
