Skiathos is in the Sporades islands, a group of islands in the northwestern Aegean.
Why You Should Go to Skiathos:
This island is popular with Athenians and with yachters. The island is a green oasis with pine trees and miles of beaches easily reached by local bus. It can be seen in the distance in the opening scene of the movie version of "Mamma Mia!".
It's also the home of Krassi Beach, possibly better known under its name of Banana Beach. Perhaps not coincidentally, Banana Beach is a renowed nude beach and even boasts an (unofficially) elected mayor.
Where to Stay in Skiathos:
Skiathos has a number of more or less self-contained resorts, such as the Skiathos Palace Hotel. Find and compare hotels on Skiathos here:

Events in Skiathos
An annual festival takes place during July and August at the ancient theater of Limenas. The Feast of the Virgin Mary on August 15th and 16th turns the whole island into a place of celebration.
