Thassos is in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Northern Greece, easily and quickly reached by boats from Kavala and Keramoti.

Events in Thassos
An annual festival takes place during July and August at the ancient theater of Limenas. The Feast of the Virgin Mary on August 15th and 16th turns the whole island into a place of celebration.

The Church of the Panagia is a Byzantine-style church built in 1845; its located in the village of Panagia.
The Archaeological Museum of Thassos has a choice collection of artifacts found locally. Highlights include an image of Aphrodite riding on a dolphin and a Roman-era statue of the emperor Hadrian.
How to Get to Thassos While you can fly into Kavala, it's not that busy a route and so prices tend to be expensive. Most foreign visitors fly into Thessaloniki and drive or take a taxi to Komotini, where they hop on the ferry for a shore ride to Thassos.
