Where is Kastellorizo?
Kastellorizo, also known as Megisti, is part of the Dodecanese Islands and is located in the far east of the Aegean Sea, just off of the coast of Turkey.
Why You Should Go to Kastellorizo:
This remote, traditional island is a good place for a retreat. Visitors enjoy the pastel-colored buildings around the harbor and the ancient tombs carved into the cliffs. Many of its original inhabitants have emigrated to Australia, but the second generation is coming back home, at least for holidays. The movie Mediterraneo was shot here.

Getting to Kastellorizo:
Kastellorizo can be reached from the Turkish coast just a mile away, at least in calm political periods and by vessels which have approval to dock there. There is also regular (but not daily) boat and small plane service from the island of Rhodes, 72 miles away.
