Lipsi is located near the island of Patmos, often included on cruises and "In the Footsteps of Paul" tours. You'll also find the spelling "Leipsoi" and "Lipsous".
Why You Should Go to Lipsi:
Lipsi is a beautiful and unspoiled island which still has a nice variety of places to eat. Lodgings are fairly limited. The outer islands, which can be reached by local boats, are uninhabited. If you're looking for islands to lose yourself in, these may be it.
Yachters make up many of the visitors to Lipsi, since it is reasonably hard or time-consuming to get to using scheduled boat transport.
Where to Stay in Lipsi:
Lipsi offers a few places to stay, but most of them have not made their way onto booking engines and aggregators. You should have no problem finding a room on your arrival as boats will be met by innkeepers, but if you're the cautious type you can try to book ahead. Since most travelers will find their way to Lipsi from Patmos, you may need to make your booking from there, or spend a night on Patmos when you're going or coming. Where to Eat:
You'll enjoy the offerings of the tavernas around the main plaka in Lipsi itself. Don't expect "fine dining" - but the dining you'll find will be just fine. The harbor area offers a number of tavernas.
Events in Lipsi
An annual festival takes place during July and August at the ancient theater of Limenas. The Feast of the Virgin Mary on August 15th and 16th turns the whole island into a place of celebration.
Don't Miss Seeing in Lipsi:
You'll be walking through unspoiled countryside on Lipsi. It is the Dodecanese, midway between the dry hard islands of the Cyclades and the lusher landscapes of the Northern Aegean islands. For walking, spring and fall are best. What to Do in Lipsi Going to the beach is one of the main activities on Lipsi, and though locals are ambivalent about it, there is one locally-notorious nude beach at Monodendri. It has the unusual claim to fame of having inspired a line of Greek-inspired cosmetics, whose founder shares the story of several summers as a youth spent trying to get to the near-mythical beach. He never clearly reveals the secret of Monodendri, though its "single tree" - the meaning of Monodendri - is now his company logo. But, fortunately, tireless Greek nude beach explorer Cap'n Barefoot is more forthcoming and gives details on how to get there and what you will find - or not - once you succeed in reaching the remote nude beach on Lipsi. How to Get to Lipsi
Lipsi has no airport, but it does have regular ferry service from Piraeus, Patmos, and Rhodes.
