Public art exhibit in Athens during the Olympics

Sep 6 2005
If you've traveled in the "new" Athens recently, you may have found yourself wondering just who was responsible for the amazing turnaround in the visitability of the Greek capital. While many people played a role planning and executing the Olympic renovations, the driving force behind much of it has been Dora Bakoyannis, the Mayor of Athens. Her contributions and leadership have not gone unnoticed, and she's now one of the finalists in the "World Mayor" contest. While this position is purely ceremonial, it's a great honor for Bakoyannis to be considered.

You don't have to be a citizen of Greece or a resident of Athens to vote for Dora in this contest, and more than just your vote counts. The winner will also be selected based in part on the comments submitted by voters explaining why they are voting for a particular individual.
