Vyronas Music Festival
An Athenian Secret

By deTraci Regula, About.com

Primarily located in a quarry-turned-theater/stadium and at the Vrachhon Theater, the annual Vyronas Festival runs in June and July features some of the top names in Greek music. The eclectic lineup in 2006 runs the gamut from George Dalaras to Antony and the Johnsons.

Vyronas is located to the east of Athens, and the stadium can be reached by Trolley Line 11 or by bus #203 or #204. Driving directions for Vyronas can be found here. It's named after Lord Byron, much beloved by the Greeks because of his participation in the War for Independence.
