What You Can Take On the Plane to Greece

Note: many of these new security measures have been partially rescinded but may be reinstated at any time. The ban on all liquids and gels is still in place as of this writing (August 18th, 2006). With the thwarting of a terrorist plot on Thursday, August 10th, new security measures are in place for an indeterminate amount of time for flights between the United Kingdom and the United States.

These items may change; check with your airline for the latest updates.

As of August 10th, 2006:

  • No liquids of any kind. This includes beverages, water bottles, perfumes, liquid medicines, toiletries, hair gels, and all similar items.
  • No laptops or electronic devices
  • No purses
  • No hand luggage of any kind

What You Can Bring With You

You WILL be allowed to carry your travel documents and identification, your glasses and sunglasses without their cases, a minimal amount of medicine, preferably in pill form rather than liquid.

Bag It All

These items are to be carried in a clear plastic bag. I recommend one with a standard seal on the top rather than a zipper-type as I've found that the zipper bands often pull off the body of the bag itself with repeated uses.
