- The staff is trained to international luxury standards.
- Indulgent but also very business-friendly - especially if your business is with Parliament.
- Lively location on Syntagma Square.
- Some rooms offer an Acropolis view.
- 159 rooms and suites
- In times of student or labor protest, Syntagma Square is always a gathering place.
- This is a grand, grown-up hotel. Leave the party-hearty spirit on the islands.
- In-house internet booking is a bit confusing - see below.
- Part of the Classical Hotels group, which also owns the King George II next door.
- The Explorer's Lounge is a warm enviroment which will take you back to the days of the empire - almost any empire will do.
- Suites offer marble bathrooms, many with separate tubs. But only the Presidential Suite offers gilded fixtures.
- It offers a number of meeting rooms for business and other events.
In general, the rooms are larger than the average in Athenian hotels and many of them have views of the Acropolis. Rooms at the front side of the hotel overlooking Syntagma Square can be a bit noisy, even with extensive soundproofing.
Booking online? The in-house Internet booking service fill-in form takes you out to a service operated by a company called Utell. It's a jolt, but they then show you the full range of available prices, which sometimes duplicate each other. On my visit, apparently identical rooms were offered from Euro 143 on a "Luxury Hotel Promotion Rate" while an inch below on the screen, the same room was offered for Euro 269 under the "Corporate Rate". Both rates exclude taxes and service fee, though the "Approximate Cost of Stay" columns lists these rates as if they are inclusive.
