Definition: The Epitaphios is the embroidered cloth placed within a graceful wooden bier which is carried through the streets during processions on Good Friday and is a key part of Easter celebrations in Greece.
Pronunciation: eh-pee-TAPH-ee-os
Alternate Spellings: epitafios. In Greek, it's Ἐπιτάφιος, epitáphios, or Ἐπιτάφιον, epitáphion.
