For more than forty years, the Epidaurus Festival has re-created ancient Greek classics at the beautiful and acoustically tremendous theater at Epidaurus. Don't miss this marvelous opportunity to experience theatre as the ancient Greeks did. Performances are in Greek but programs provide synopses in other languages.

This year, a slightly shorter Festival begins July 4th and runs through August 23rd. Plays are only on Friday and Saturday nights.

Tickets are available on-site and in Athens at the Athens Festival booth at 39 Panepistimiou St. (in the arcade). The telephone number is 210 322 1459. From the States, add 011-30 before the number.

Unfortunately for pre-planners, advance tickets are only available beginning three weeks before the performance date. Some performances do sell out; get tickets early. Most hotels and travel agents can assist in obtaining tickets.

Performances generally start at 9pm - confirm with the ticket office.

When looking up additional information online, note that alternate spellings of Epidaurus include Epidavros, Epidoros, and Epidauros.

If you drive to Epidaurus, watch the signs. N. Epidaurus will take you to Nea Epidaurus, the modern town, not to the ancient site.

Bargain minded? The upper level is available for half off the regular ticket price. Discounts are also available for parents with large families.
