Guide Review
Greek olive oils form the basis of almost everything eaten in Greece. One of the few oils in the world that is actually considered to be protective of the heart and health, olive oil is gaining in popularity outside the Mediterranean basin where it has long ruled supreme. But because of the bulk and weight of the bottles, most travelers depart Greece without this wonderful essential in their suitcases. Fortunately, mail-order sources can catch up with you at home with both gift boxes and bottled olive oil.

While most of its uses are culinary, olive oil also finds its way into the shower - some Greeks use it as a hair conditioner or as a treatment for dry skin. Its healthful qualities also made it a favorite choice as a base for herbal medicines, and it was put on wounds to speed healing.
