Animal ownership and appreciation is rising in Greece. In addition to many wildlife organizations, some of which were discussed in The Other Wild Life in Greece, more and more pet-friendly organizations and services are springing up.

This pharmacy on the island of Andros caters to humans and their pets, and offers Internet ordering. Andros Pharmacy.

Greece has over a dozen special dog breeds, including the Alopekis, Ellinikos Katikidios Skilos, Ellinikos Pimenikos, the Syrianos Diktis, and many others. Many are virtually unknown outside of Greece, and limited to very small, often remote areas.
