Greek Beers - Reader Reviews
What to drink and where to find it

By deTraci Regula, About.com

"Greece for Visitors" readers agree on one thing - they like to drink Greek beer in Greece, and often the habit follows them home. "Where can I get "Mythos" beer in (enter country)?" is one of the top ten questions I receive. But some other Greek brews seem to be gearing up to give Mythos a run for its stein. What's your opinion? See what some other readers have to say below, and maybe you can help a thirsty fellow citizen find these lost treasures of Hellas.

Brits especially seem to love Greek beer. LJ writes "After ... drinking Mythos lager over many years on numerous islands, Kephalonia, Thassos, Samos, and Lesvos ,I endeavoured to find a supply in the UK. The importers in London do not have a northern retailer, but I did obtain a supply from a greek taverna in Carlisle. Also the shop "Foods of the world" in St Helens can suppply. At last, even though the weather isn't Greek, I can still enjoy the lager."

BG notes "I have noticed a Greek beer that has been popping up all over Florida mainly in the Miami - Ft. Lauderdale area. The beer is called Athenian and being I'm not one to veer away from my brand I sampled it at a festival. The beer is wonderful and I have since become a believer in Greek Beer. However, I tried a different brand of Greek beer and it was no where near the Athenian. I thought to write you about it, you may already be aware but just in case. And as the Greeks always say, "OPA!"

Recommended for tired Monastiraki shoppers, Alpha has a devoted but anonymous fan who admires its surprisingly restorative taste, golden color, and foamy head. PB states it's "Even better than Mythos!"
