Hellenic Festival 2003 at Herod Atticus Odeon

Terrific offerings include something for everyone

The 2003 Hellenic Festival at the Odeon of Herod Atticus at the Acropolis is getting underway. This year, the 36 offerings have been divided into seven sections. They all sound great, but who could resist checking out the "Various Spectacles" category?

Symphonic Music & Great Singers: Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Jessy Norman, Duisburger Philharmoniker, Flemish Radio Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra - Zubin Mehta, National Orchestra of France - Kurt Masur.

Dance: S. Prokofiev: Cinderella / Monte-Carlo Ballet, L. Minkus: Don Quixote / Greek National Opera Ballet, L. Delibes: Coppelia / English National Ballet, Triptyque / English National Ballet, Clavigo / Paris National Opera Ballet.

Opera: C. Saint - Saens: Samson and Dalila / Greek National Opera, Ch. W. Gluck: Ôelemachus / English Bach Festival, Fiddler on the Roof, Nikos Mamagakis: Erofili.

Theatre: Moliere: The Doctor In Spite of Himself, V. Hugo: Les Miserables, Bost: Ìedea, Aristophanes: Wasps, The cycle of Oedipus / Shakespeare Theater / Washington.

Greek Creation & Greek Singers: A Tribute to Asia Minor with George Dalaras, Tribute to Manos Hadjidakis / Amorgos - Magnus Eroticus, Mikis Theodorakis / At Ritsos' neighbourhoods, Choreographies from the old Greek tradition.

Various Spectacles: The Rhythm of the Dance / National Dance Company of Ireland, Marcel Marceau, Ian Anderson - Jethro Tull, Music from the Cinema, Maurice Jarre in concert, Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Colours with "Colours" / concert.
