Hiring a Limousine in Athens, Greece

Tired of taxis? This could be an affordable alternative

By deTraci Regula, About.com

In almost every city of the world, finding a taxi is easy. But what if you want to upgrade? Finding a limousine is harder - but especially for groups of four or more, it may be a surprisingly affordable alternative for the trip in or out of Athens itself or for an evening's wandering to restaurants or nightclubs.

As an example, the last posted rate for the trip from Athens Airport into Athens itself is Euro 80 for four persons. While this isn't a bargain compared to ordinary Greek taxis or the bus, it's comparable to the price you'll pay for a shuttle bus in many U.S. and European cities.

The official provider of limousine services is the Federation of Limousines, which maintains an office at 6 Voukourestiou Street in Athens.

Their phone number, in Greece, is 210 323-3957; the fax is 210 323-7942.

Any Greece-based travel agent will also be able to book limousines for you, as will many hotels.

The "Official Limousine Rates" linked above are posted by the Greek National Tourist Organization; note that the base rates are for four people in a seven-seat limo. Larger groups will pay a surcharge.
