Greece's Foreign Minister Expresses Solidarity with Boston Marathon Victims

By April 18, 2013

Greece's Foreign Minister, Dimitris Avramopoulos, took the occasion of his attendance at the funeral of Margaret Thatcher in London yesterday to express his condolences to all of those affected by the terror attack on the Boston Marathon, which left three dead and about 183 injured.

The Greek News Agenda quotes him as saying "It is an attack on all of us. Against the symbolism of the Marathon and the values it represents. In these difficult hours, our thoughts are with the injured and the relatives of the victims. Greece is standing by your side." All Marathons recreate in some way the legendary famed run of Pheidippides between the plains of Marathon and Athens to announce that the Greeks had triumphed over Persian invaders in 490 BC.
