Athens' King George Gets a Facelift

The iconic King George II Palace hotel on Syntagma Square, next-door neighbor and now a newly-added property to the same ownership group as the Hotel Grande Bretagne, has closed for renovations. Unlike most "Palace"-named hotels in Greece, this one briefly served as an actual royal residence back in the 1800s,The King George is expected to reopen in time for the summer tourist season in late May or early June.
