One of the most surreal experiences a traveler can have is to immerse in another culture while exploring the first. It can be fun, bewildering, and enlightening. Which is why I like the sound of this event outside Athens - a 90-minute self-proclaimed "Bollywood Extravaganza" followed by a feast of Indian foods at the Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni, both included for the moderate price of 40 Euros a person. If fun and food isn't enough for you, you can contemplate the fact that Ancient Greece and ancient India had many ties, partly through Alexander' the Great's eastern conquests and the Graeco-Bactrian kingdoms he left in his wake - filled with Greek artisans who blended Indian and Greek influences in their sculptures and other arts into unique new forms, especially at Gandhara.
