It's true that Halloween is an imported holiday. But like other imports, such as Valentine's Day and even Thanksgiving, it is catching on. Why not? With costumes and an emphasis on food, it fits right in with many Greek festivals and provides some good practice for the Carnival season in late winter. One possible costume option - go as a Greek donkey. The ones on Santorini are said to be the souls of the dead working off their sins - what could be more appropriate for Halloween?
