null Intrigued by the ancient Minoans who inhabited the big island of Crete several thousand years ago? Or just a fan of archaeology, especially Arthur Evans and his controversial excavation at Knossos? This inaugural intensive under the aegis of the British School at Athens (BSA) may be just the thing for more serious-minded travelers.

For three days starting Wednesday, February 1st, 2012, participants will stay steps from Knossos at the site hostel and enjoy expert guidance on the history and archaeology of the Minoans. This is a "trial run" for a longer program to be offered in the future and the local BSA curator, Don Evely, is welcoming a few more participants for this special introductory opportunity. Cost is 270 Euros including all meals, lectures and workshops, entrance fees, and a simple shared room, a great value for such an intense experience with experts. It also provides an up-close look at the famed house built by Arthur Evans, the Villa Ariadne, pictured above, normally off-limits for the average visitor and of interest both to would-be archaeologists and those interested in modern Cretan history - it was the residence of General Kreipe during the Nazi Occupation.
