The developing story of eleven Russian spies operating in the United States now has a Greek connection as Christopher Robert Metsos was arrested in Cyprus as he attempted to fly to Budapest, Hungary. He was later released on bail though authorities have kept his passport, the BBC reports.
This got me thinking about one of my favorite movies shot in Greece, High Season, starring Jacqueline Bisset and Kenneth Branagh. This fun 'isn't Greece gorgeous' film has an unexpected spy plot at the heart of it, including a Russian spy making his getaway.Other films which have combined Greece and high espionage include The Bourne Identity - which has one scene shot in Greece which generated tons of reader email (hm, can one have a "ton" of e-mail?) from fans wanting to plan their own getaways to Greece.
Greece also made a memorable appearance in the James Bond spy flick "For Your Eyes Only". And for a Greek political thriller which plays like a spy film, you can't beat "Z".
