On this Day in Greece - November 26th

On November 26th, 1942, Greek resistance fighters and British soldiers combined forces to destroy the Gorgopotamos Bridge, destroying an important railway link for the occupying Nazis. 2007 marked the 65th anniversary of this date, which was observed in many places throughout Greece.
