Greece Heads to the Polls Sunday

Saturday October 3, 2009

Greek flag

Greeks will decide who they want to lead them out of an increasingly challenging mix of economic and social concerns in the elections this Sunday, October 4th. Greek law forbids polls predicting voter choices in the last two weeks before an election, but most foreign observers expect that PASOK will triumph over ND, resulting in a full change of government.

If you're in Greece right now, be aware that most popular attractions will be closed or operating on more limited hours on Sunday due to the election.

Travel disruptions such as this should be limited to election day itself. Whichever party wins in Greece, it is not expected that there will be much in the way of protests or the other post-election problems which seem to have become the worldwide norm of late.
