Mother's Day in Greece

Saturday May 9, 2009
Mother and child on Lefkada. Sean Gallup/Getty ImagesI know that Mother's Day in Greece is not really a traditionally Greek holiday, unless you count some ancient and religious roots for the day. And some might say that powerful Greek moms do a pretty good job of claiming all 365 days a year for their own. But one thing is for certain - if you're traveling in Greece on Mother's Day without your Mom, call her. Trust me. It'll just be better.

Or, better yet, take her to Greece with you. At least watch "Mamma Mia the Movie!" together.
