Massively Increased Security Affects All Flights Between US, UK

The United States and the United Kingdom have announced vastly increased security measures for all flights between the United States and the UK following the arrest of approximately 20 persons early Thursday morning, disrupting what is believed to have been a planned major terrorist attack on multiple aircraft.

Since many travelers to Greece change planes in England, please be aware that NO LIQUIDS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED.. This includes all beverages, lotions, hair gels, and similar items.

Leave them at home or be prepared to surrender them. Laptops, even books and newspapers will be restricted or prohibited. At UK airports, passengers are allowed minimal items in clear plastic bags; all actual bags are being checked in. For today at least, carry-on luggage does not exist in the UK. Purses and other similar items are also forbidden - even sunglass and eyeglass cases are prohibited.

This definitely affects flights originating from the UK and has been applied to flights from the US to the UK as well, starting at 4am Thursday, adjusted for local time, at all US airports. British authorities are urging those who do not need to travel to or from the UK to cancel their trips for at least a few days.

Needless to say, allow far more time than usual to clear security.

These increased security measures will remain in force until revoked.
