Short Season at Epidauros' Ancient Theater

Tuesday July 25, 2006
Epidaurus theaterAn unusually short schedule for the Epidaurus Theater has visitors scratching their heads as they try to get tickets for performances.

What's the answer? The ancient theater, battered by millions of visitors, is being closed for renovations in late August.

It's a bad late summer season for theater goers in Greece. The Herod Atticus theater at the Acropolis in Athens, built in memory of Regilla, the wife Atticus apparently had murdered by one of his slaves, is also being closed for renovations.

Is there any news on how long they will be closed? I mean, bearing in mind it’s Greece.

It’s supposed to be a short closure of weeks rather than months.
