Greece Adds New Tourist Attraction?

Tuesday March 14, 2006
The miraculously preserved body of a monk who died 15 years ago is attracting hordes of visitors to Lamia, eKathimerini reports.

While oddly-preserved corpses are usually taken as a negative sign, particularly in a town named after a supernatural spirit, most visitors and church authorities are interpreting the survival of the monk's corporeal form as a miracle.

Lamia is off the usual tourist route, but it does boast the remains of a castle and has been inhabited since at least Mycenean times. A regularly-updated webcam shows the castle. (If it's too dark to see it, that means it's nighttime in Greece...)
