A Great Mistake

Thursday September 29, 2005
One of the best mistakes I ever made in travel was to think I had left my cell phone charger at home. I ended up buying a Greek pay-as-you go phone for about Euro 50.

This made it easier and cheaper for my Greek contacts to find me, I never needed to worry about what horrific cell phone charges I might be running up at home, and the charger fit right into the wall plug without having to mess with a voltage converter --especially handy since I had already melted one of those on the same trip.

The bottom line? While I finally found my American cell phone charger, I was so in love with my handy little Greek phone that I hardly needed to charge my old phone at all.

I went through Vodaphone, one of the biggest cell phone companies in Greece, but in general, all of the major cell phone providers in Greece offer similar prices and well-trained, friendly service in both English and Greek.
