Getting Married in Santorini

Monday September 26, 2005
Want a wedding of mythological proportions? While it seems that the two "Parises" - Paris Hilton and her Greek boyfriend Paris may still have a long way to go before tying the knot in Greece, brides could upstage them by staging a big fat Greek wedding of their own.

While all of Greece makes a great backdrop for a ceremony, Santorini is one of the most popular locations, and this interview with a Santorini bride gives a few of the reasons why.

One of the big reasons why not to tie the knot in Greece is fading. Hoteliers were often unwilling to commit on prices far enough ahead for most wedding plans, sometime asking prospective brides to contact them again a few weeks or months before the wedding.

Since foreign weddings require elaborate advance planning, this nipped many Greek wedding plans right in the tightly-coiled rosebud. Fortunately, this seems to be changing, but remember that hotels on Santorini rarely have rooms available in late June, July, or August. Plan for spring or fall and you have a much better chance of getting an advance commitment as well as a better rate.
