The summer is clinging to Greece, with humid temperatures keeping the nights warm and thunderstorms striking in unlikely places. The hotel and taverna keepers are breathing a sigh of genuine relief after one of the busiest summers in years.
Athens International Airport was jammed at eleven thirty at night - unfortunately, in part due to a pair of four-hour bus strikes that made only taxi drivers happy. But most people were taking it in stride and enjoying the unseasonably warm Attica night until the buses began running again shortly after midnight.
