The summer is clinging to Greece, with humid temperatures keeping the nights warm and thunderstorms striking in unlikely places. The hotel and taverna keepers are breathing a sigh of genuine relief after one of the busiest summers in years.

Athens International Airport was jammed at eleven thirty at night - unfortunately, in part due to a pair of four-hour bus strikes that made only taxi drivers happy.
