Free Maps of Athens

Tuesday July 5, 2005
I love Greek maps. Whenever I can, I get two copies of the best maps of Greece - one to accidentally rip, repeatedly fold wrong, and write on while traveling, and one to keep in pristine condition to use to illustrate my travels to friends back home. So when I find good sources of Greek maps, I have to share them. The official website for the City of Athens, Greece has posted large-format PDF files showing all the key locations in Athens. They don't show every street, but just all the ones you need.

While I still prefer traditional or laminated folding maps, these zoomable images can be handy for checking hotel locations and doing some preliminary route planning.

Want more on-line maps of Greece? Of course you do. The GNTO (Greek National Tourist Organization) offers many other large-format maps of Greece. Enjoy!
