Traveling to Greece right now? Wednesday, May 11th's general strike may make connections difficult as many unions participate. The reason? With Greek Orthodox Easter falling on May First, a traditional holiday, it was hoped that employees would happily skip the day off they usually get for May Day. Not so. Instead of May 1, they've simply added another digit , made it May 11th, and are claiming today as the day off.
If you're looking for other news on the strike, it may be difficult as journalists are among those striking. At Athens' International Airport, even the air traffic controllers are striking for four hours, from 12 noon until 4pm. If you have to contact the airport, here is their official information.
Though most tourist-related businesses will still be open, it may be a great day for a picnic in Greece.

Greek Othodox Easter was on april 23, not on the 1st of May.
