Live from Heraklion
Thursday April 28, 2005
I'm sitting here in an internet cafe in the bustling pre-Easter crowds of downtown Heraklion. It's another clear, beautiful day with near-summer temperatures with a light breeze and a holiday feeling in the air. I've spent time in Heraklion before, mainly for quick visits to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum or Knossos, but this time, the city itself is really growing on me.
This weekend is Greek Orthodox Easter on May 1st, schoolkids are off for two weeks, and the Cretans are taking it easy and enjoying the abundance of streetside tavernas and cafeneions.

is that just to make us jealous
Hope you bathed since you wrote this … if not … let me inform you … it is now September.
Hi Sean – you’re referring to the assurance I sent that I had indeed bathed in at least four Greek seas (Aegean, Libyan, Myrtoan, and Cretan) since then – no, my goal isn’t to make you jealous but to get you planning your own trip to Greece! By the way, it can be quite comfortable – some islands have undersea hot springs you can bathe in.
