Planning A Spring Fling
Planning your trip is one of the most enjoyable aspects of travel, no matter how many times you've been to Greece. But I always like to leave room for spontaneity and the luxury of choosing to spend a few extra days on a perfect new island. The shoulder seasons (May into early June, mid-September into October) are ideal for this kind of flexible travel as you can count on finding rooms on short, or no, notice, but the ferry and other transportation schedules are still frequent enough to make sure you're not lingering too long on that island.
Right now, I'm planning five spring weeks in Crete. I'll be including the Greek Orthodox Easter celebrations, choosing which off-the-beaten-path ancient Minoan sites, caves, and peak sanctuaries to visit, returning to the unspoiled southern coast for some more paddling, and then popping over to Santorini and its less-visited eastern side, the site of ancient Roman-era Thera.
Where are you planning to go in Greece this year? Let me know!
