Bomb Hoaxes Plague Olympic Airlines

Monday October 4, 2004
For the third time in a little over a week, an Olympic Airlines flight has been forced to make an unscheduled landing in response to a phoned-in bomb threat. The latest event required a London-bound flight to land today on the island of Corfu, Bloomberg.com has reported.

While the calls have made references to various world events, all of these hoaxes against Olympic Airlines have occured since the Greek government publicly announced renewed plans to sell the airline.

If you are flying on OA in coming weeks, expect intensified scrutiny. Allow extra time at the airport to pass security. So far, the hoaxes have all been on flights leaving Athens, but it's a good idea to allow extra time for any Olympic Airlines flight.
