Olympic Truce Strained by New Zealand
Tuesday August 24, 2004
During the pre-game warmup between men's basketball semi-finalists Australia and New Zealand, the New Zealand team adapted an indigenous war dance and moved toward the Australian team, crouching and slapping their thighs in a menacing manner as they stomped their feet in unison with their fans.
Doesn't that count as a violation of the Olympic truce?
But were the Australians intimidated? Not much - they won by 98-80.
