Strike Season Strikes Again

Saturday November 29, 2003
Flying to, from, or within Greece this weekend? Double-check your flights on Olympic Airlines - an Airline Steward union strike running between November 28th and December 1st is grounding some flights. The reason? A reorganization at Olympic Airlines (previously known as Olympic Airways) that forces existing staff to sign a new contract. The airline, which has made a remarkable turnaround in service quality in recent years, is striving to survive independent of government help, a no-no now that Greece is part of the European Union. More than ever, it may be a good time to opt for travel insurance to help cover unexpected delays. If those delays happen at the Athens airport at Spata, you may enjoy a careful, slow examination of the archaeological finds presented at the airport museum.
